ON Advertising Acquires Evans Communications

ON Advertising, a prominent Phoenix-based full-service advertising firm, has acquired Evans Communications, a leading Valley public relations, marketing and event planning firm.

Evans Communications will be merged into the ON Advertising structure, and its principal Tom Evans will join the ON Advertising team as Partner-Public Relations and Event Strategies. Evans’ three other employees will join the ON Advertising team as well. The dollar value of the transaction is to be determined based upon revenues over the next few years.

The move significantly expands ON’s public relations and event planning capabilities while providing Evans Communications’ clients with ON’s full spectrum of advertising, creative, digital, social media and marketing services. Evans Communications’ clients include some of the Valley’s most prominent organizations, including Plaza Companies, Valley of the Sun United Way, SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, The Phoenix Symphony and many more.

ON Advertising’s client base includes a broad range of public and private sector organizations, including Hines, Chompie’s Restaurants, Pioneer Packaging, Cici’s Pizza, Aria Energy, Maricopa County and the State of Arizona.

“We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished over the years on our clients’ behalf, and have been fortunate and privileged to work with some of the finest leaders in Arizona and some of the most dynamic organizations in the Southwest and beyond,” Tom Evans said. “But we were very impressed with what ON Advertising’s partners John Hernandez, Ron Meritt, and Eric Garcia are building, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it. They have been incredibly gracious and welcoming, and we look forward to what we’re able to achieve for our clients together.”

Andrea Tyler Evans, co-owner of Evans Communications, will continue to serve as Publisher of the Evans’ other company, Frontdoors Media, which is not involved in the transaction.

John Hernandez, Partner and Co-Owner of ON Advertising, said that the acquisition was an opportunity for the agency to continue its growth while expanding its capabilities and adding a well-known name in the community to the company’s roster.

“Evans Communications has an excellent reputation in the Valley,” said John Hernandez. “Tom and our partners had great conversations to make this deal happen, and we knew that not only would our services be complementary, but he and his team would fit into our culture, which made this a no-brainer,” he added.

The transition will officially take effect on April 1, with the Evans team transitioning into the ON Advertising offices in downtown Phoenix.

Founded in 1993, ON Advertising is a full-service advertising, marketing, public relations, graphic design, web design and video production agency with innovation and big creative ideas at its core. For all clients, we take a business-based approach which means we look at bottom-line growth for every client. We start and execute every assignment with the understanding there are tangible business goals to achieve and the communication strategies must align with the business objectives of each client.

Client Spotlight: Valley Schools

This week we are highlighting our client Valley Schools. Valley Schools has been a leader in insurance administration, vendor contracting, and consulting services for over thirty years. As a nonprofit corporation, the number one priority at Valley Schools is advising and providing their members with a best-in-class service at the most competitive rates possible.

It is a busy time of year for Valley Schools as it is open enrollment season, which means the many school districts they represent are in full swing for plan renewals. ON Advertising has been helping Valley Schools with multiple projects for this busy time of year, some of them include new designs for their member’s benefit books, creative design for multiple pop-up banners for upcoming conferences, video production, and voice-over recordings for enrollment plan booklets. Check out a recent video we created for Valley Schools here.

Many of our clients have multiple projects going on, especially if they have busy seasons. So how does ON make sure everything stays streamlined when there are multiple projects in the air?

It’s all about organization.

You would be surprised, but many advertising agencies do not leverage Traffic Managers to help workflow through various departments. This is a vital resource for Account Executives and Senior Account Executives as it ensures important items do not fall through the cracks. At ON Advertising, our Account Services team has Traffic Manager in place and builds out comprehensive quarterly plans called 30-60-90s for each client. These plans cover the action items for each client so everyone knows what deliverables to expect and their respective due dates.

Having consistent meetings with our clients is also extremely valuable. This achieves two essential goals: 1) It keeps all stakeholders informed about ongoing tactics. 2) It strengthens relationships and builds trust. Our agency is committed to being a partner to our clients, not just another vendor.

These are just some of our agency differentiators. For more information on things your agency should be doing for you, give this a quick read.

At the end of the day, our primary mission is to ensure success and ROI for our clients. We love working with organizations like Valley Schools. If you’re interested in our wide range of full-service offerings, look no further than our services page.

Hines Chandler Viridian Sign glowing during sundown

Welcome to Chandler Viridian

Have you driven by Chandler mall recently? Did you notice a few new buildings occupying a once vacant lot with a half-finished building? In fact, the development company, Hines, has recently completed its $160 million project of building class A office space, a luxurious hotel, and an upscale apartment complex on that 8,900 square foot lot. And guess what? We had the pleasure of working with the executives at Hines to create the main logo and grand opening videos! The new development is called Chandler Viridian, and we are excited to see everything come to life.

Who is Hines

Hines is a privately owned development company that works in 24 different countries around the world. Chandler Viridian was just one of many projects that they are working on. Their portfolio consists of $116.4 billion under management and is growing at a rapid pace.

The Project

Three different videos in only 2 weeks. There were many obstacles that we had to work around while filming these videos and shooting photos to make everything look perfect. One of the most difficult aspects of shooting this development was dealing with the construction still taking place on the buildings. Working around the construction workers and manipulating the shots to make it seem like the building was finished was not an easy task. We did a lot of touching up at the end, including removing equipment, fixing dead trees, and more.

Shoot Day

Another challenge we faced was the limited amount of time we had. We only had 2 weeks to complete the entire production and only 2 days to shoot the entire 8,900 square foot land with all its features. The first day we shot was before the grand opening ceremony. We brought in various models to pose in “lifestyle” shots, giving the audience a taste of what it would feel like to live and work at Chandler Viridian. We even captured drone footage of the land to show a birds-eye view!

The next shoot was at the grand opening ceremony, showcasing all the executives and the first-ever Hines hot air balloon. This was a historic day for us and Hines, as we saw this development come to fruition.

Final Videos

With a short amount of time, multiple obstacles and a lot of hard work, everything came together! Click here to see the final video.

Logo

One of our owners, Eric Garcia, created the logo for Chandler Viridian. As pictured here, the logo is plastered on every sign all around the building, giving the new area a unique brand and contemporary feel. Having the elegant logo all over the development ties the hotel, the office, the apartment complex, and all of the restaurants together.

With the talent of our creative staff and the hard-working accounts team, we were able to produce a great video for the Chandler Viridian development. We’re Bringing Sexy Back to Advertising With Yandy

It’s not every day that you get to work on a spooky lingerie campaign, but last month that is exactly what our team at ON Advertising had the privilege of doing. When Yandy.com, an Arizona based online retailer of lingerie, Halloween costumes, and women’s apparel, contacted us for creative execution of 3 videos that were 15 seconds each, we could not resist the opportunity to be a part of something unique and challenging. With the month of October being Yandy’s busiest time of year, we only had 3 weeks to turn the project around in time for an October 1st launch date, so our team banded together to bring this project to fruition for our client. How did we get it done? Keep reading to find out!
On your mark, get set…
When advertising for a brand like Yandy, it isn’t enough to simply create something visually stunning, it has to resonate with the right buyer persona. In careful collaboration with our client, we identified what messaging, tone, and look would attract Yandy’s audience. Once the concepts were selected based on strategy, ON Ad’s Chief Creative Officer meticulously sketched out each frame for the 3 concepts in order to visually articulate how the final product should look on screen. Check out the storyboards here.
Meanwhile, the client services department worked with local talent agencies to secure models and actors for the spot. In partnership with Sneaky Big, we were able to lock down a highly sophisticated production studio to execute the videos.
While Sneaky Big and the creative team at ON purchased and built the props for the shoot, hair and makeup teams were assembled and briefed with specific production books so they could understand the exact “hauntingly sexy” appearance that each of the models needed to portray on camera.
Action!
15 seconds per video might seem like no time at all, but that actually translates to 10 hours of shooting. Starting in the wee hours of the morning and finishing at night, our team worked in coordination with Yandy and Sneaky Big to film the three videos in a single day. There are obviously countless horror stories of shoot days gone wrong for other companies, but not with ON Advertising. Our Chief Creative Officer and the Director of Brand Marketing at Yandy were in lockstep on each aspect of the shoot. They never missed a beat and strengthened the production with each scene that was shot. This is the nature of a creative relationship based on trust and is something that we strive for with each client, no matter their industry. Check out some photos from the set.
Finishing Touches
Productions live or die on the editing room floor, which is why we were thrilled to work in close coordination with the Sneaky Big team as they methodically and quickly edited each of these concepts in the span of just 5 days. The ON creative team worked tirelessly on superimposed graphics that would add additional thematic elements to each of the 3 concepts and enhance the spine-chilling yet sensual tone of the videos.
After hours of hard work, the three videos were finalized and showcased at a Yandy flashmob event in New York City. Check out photos here. The videos are currently circulating across Yandy’s digital platform and have already garnered 74,049 views online.
The Recipe for Success
When agencies are enticed by a new project, it can be a trick or treat situation. Without the right relationship, planning, and execution – everything can go bust in a hurry. But when an agency and its client collaborate, trust, and have a shared vision for success then anything is possible. We are proud of the work we did for our client and hope you enjoy it as well. Watch the final videos here: Dark Angel, Carve My Heart, Pharaoh Unwrapped.

A Story of the Merger of Two Companies

It was recently announced in the Phoenix Business Journal that ON Advertising has merged with EFG Creative. The merger has been a match made in heaven and could not be more perfect. Having the resources of a full creative team with ON’s specialization in digital marketing, advertising, video production, and web design has been a dream come true.
Founder and Chief Creative Officer of EFG, Eric Garcia founded his company in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1995. Wanting to expand to the Arizona market, EFG came to the valley looking for an advertising agency to pair with. When he walked into the offices of ON Advertising, everything changed.
Eric Garcia says “The start of our relationship was perfectly timed. EFG and ON both have capabilities that really complement each other to be more competitive in the marketing industry. Our objective is to strengthen the creative presence and knowledge into the Arizona market.”
We have grown 45% over the last year, and we want to continue our growth to enhance businesses and companies nationwide through marketing tactics. “We needed to bolster our creative division in order to maintain that growth rate,” says President Ron Meritt. We here at ON are very excited to see what the future holds and can’t wait to showcase our wide array of talents to the industry!
