Own It: How We Used Collaborative Advertising To Execute A Client’s Vision
Welcome to the third edition of “Own It,” where key leaders at ON Advertising share their thoughts on important topics. Today, we feature Corrie Coleman’s inspiring story of client collaboration and creative problem-solving.
The Collaborative Approach
At ON Advertising, we believe that exceptional and collaborative client relationships are the cornerstone of genuinely remarkable marketing experiences. Our recent project with a client in Albuquerque, New Mexico, perfectly illustrates how dedication, creativity, and teamwork can transform an ordinary assignment into an extraordinary achievement.
A Story of Creative Client Collaboration
When our client approached us with a unique challenge—preparing a model train for a spectacular Lights Festival—we didn’t just see a task. We saw an opportunity to showcase our commitment to going above and beyond. The project was far from simple: an old model train, long stored away, needed to be cleaned, decorated, and branded in time for a special community event.
From the moment the train arrived at our office, our team understood the significance of the project. This wasn’t just about completing a job; it was about bringing someone’s vision to life. The train would become part of a larger model world, a centerpiece of a magical light display that would captivate audiences and create lasting memories.
Our first challenge was the tight turnaround time. With limited days to prepare the train, every moment counted. This is where one of our team’s strengths truly shines—collaborative communication. We maintained constant, transparent dialogue with our clients, ensuring they were updated at every stage. Each step, from initial cleaning to final branding, was carefully coordinated and executed precisely.
The cleaning process alone was meticulous. An old train that had been in storage requires careful handling and attention to detail. Our team approached the task with a combination of technical skill and creative passion. We weren’t just preparing a train; we were restoring a piece of potential magic that would soon come to life under festival lights.
The Execution
Painting and decorating the train became an artistic endeavor. We worked closely with the client to understand their vision, ensuring every brushstroke and design element aligned perfectly with the festival’s theme. The branding was more than just a logo placement—it was about seamlessly integrating the client’s identity into the train’s new aesthetic.
What makes this project special is the result and the journey of maintaining a collaborative relationship. In the advertising world, client relationships are everything. It’s about trust, understanding, and the willingness to invest ourselves entirely in our clients’ dreams. When the train was finally shipped back, ready for the River of Lights display, it represented more than a completed project. It was a testament to what can be achieved when a creative team truly listens and commits to their client’s vision.
We’re eagerly awaiting the photos and feedback from the festival, and we’re excited to see how our hard work contributes to what promises to be a magical community event. At ON Advertising, we don’t just complete projects—we create experiences, build collaborative relationships, and turn imaginative concepts into reality.
This is what it means to truly own it.
